Middle School Resource: 6th Grade Literature Circle

6th Grade Literature Circle

Literature Circles are small temporary discussion groups which have been selected to read the same novel, article, informational text, short story, textbook, brochure, or poem. Students use one of the historical novels from the Dear America series for this learning experience. Teachers model the six literature roles, then students worked as a large group to practice the roles. Finally, the class was divided into small groups of four to six students for the formation of literature circles.
