Learn New Languages with Songs, Pen Pals, and Journals
Students can learn new languages through songs, by writing to pen pals, and through keeping a journal. All of NYLearns’ Educational Resources are FREE and aligned to NY State Academic Standards.
In this teacher resource, students will learn to sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” in Spanish to help them learn the body parts in a new language.

In this activity, students will write letters and exchange information with a pen pal from a school in a country that speaks the language they are studying.

In this unit, students, posing as fictional adults, will complete a journal entry every week during the school year. At least four times during the school year, the students read their journal entries aloud and answer questions from the class.
